A leakage in a system under pressure produces ultrasound (16 – 100 kHz), which the human ear cannot perceive. This applies for compressed air, vacuum, gas, steam, steam traps etc. because of the air turbulence created around the leakage. Performance:

The following matrix is the result of measurements with different pressures and at different distances (D). The size of the leak is constant with a diameter of 1 mm!

The value in the table is the percentage of the full scale of the instrument (20 for the EP2400, 10 for the EP542). Further away, the EP2400 clearly more sensitive than the EP542. Even at lower (difference) pressures, the EP2400 detect the leak much easier!

Option

EP512 Transmitter
The EP/SCANGRIP detectorset can also be used to track leaks in closed spaces (cars, silos, tanks, etc.). EP offers for this option the EP512 ultrasonic transmitter. This transmitter, sending continuous pulses, has to be placed in a enclosed area. The EP/SCANGRIP detectorset now can check easily for leaks at the outside of the enclosed area.
